Timmons Group provides structural engineering design for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and buildings. We also provide designs for ancillary structures such as signs, lights, bollards and signals. Our goal is to provide services for bridges and structures that best serve the client and end user.
For bridges, we cover every structural aspect, including feasibility studies, conceptual studies, preliminary design, final design, condition assessments, NBIS biennial safety inspections, rehabilitation inspection & design, demolition plans, and adaptive re-use of bridges. We have experience with very small pedestrian bridges all the way to major river crossings with bridges over 3000 feet long.
Our retaining wall experience includes nearly all wall types, from the simple gravity walls to very complex tiered soldier pile walls and tieback systems. We often get involved early on with projects in order to select the right wall type for a specific need.
Ancillary structures are also an important aspect of our work. We custom design foundation systems for these structures, building on standard designs. All of our designs are customized to meet the specific needs of the site and the overall project.
Our team conducts Bridge Safety Inspections for bridges and culverts in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS). These mandatory inspections are critical to ensuring the safety of our nation’s structures. Safety inspection services starts with National Highway Institute (NHI) Certified inspectors with the experience to provide comprehensive inspections and reports that meet all state and federal requirements. We can combine this service with maintenance inspections to also arrive at recommended repairs to protect and prolong the life of the structure.
